Defibrillator disappearance from Pollards Hill Park Main Entrance
/The defib has been removed by someone who hasn't been registered on the LAS (London Ambulance Service) Circuit. If it had been taken for an emergency, we had hoped it had helped the situation and the individual concerned.
Regrettably, the defibrillator has not been returned to its housing nor have we had any sitings reported of people tampering with the Defib box. The issue has now been reported as a theft to Police.
"Tampering with or stealing a defibrillator is a serious offense that can lead to prosecution and a criminal record. It is considered a criminal act due to the potential to put lives at risk by making this life-saving equipment inaccessible during a medical emergency"
If you have any information, please contact the Police on 101 or email the PHRA using phraenquiries@gmail.com
Update on SNT future local speeding initiatives
/The Norbury & Pollards Hill Ward SNT Panel held their quarterly ward meeting on the 28th May. Of interest is the forthcoming speeding initiative outlined below.
FREE LIFESAVING TRAINING WITH LONDON AMBULANCE SERVICE
/On Friday 28th March a group of 10 residents had the first Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/ Defibrillator course with the London Ambulance Service (LAS) which was held at Norbury Methodist Church Hall and arranged by the PHRA for local residents. The training event was well presented by Paramedic/ First Responder Julie Whitehead; the training was fun and we all had the opportunity to practice CPR and defibrillator use.
This event emphasised the importance of early intervention when someone collapses and is in need of help. This training is to give confidence to everyone to deal with emergency situations. In some countries, Basic Life Support (BLS) /CPR training is compulsory on the curriculum in schools and colleges but sadly not in the UK. Some of us are lucky enough to have BLS courses through our place of work but very few. If you have missed Friday’s training and would like training or want more information, the LAS hase drop-in events in London throughout the year. Ask yourself, IF SOMEONE COLLAPSED OR IF THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT, WOULD YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO ?? The average time for an emergency ambulance to arrive in London is 7 mins - the body needs oxygen & circulation within 4 mins for the chances of the person surviving. Something to think about !
